The Pursuit of Significance

I had many successes and even more failures. I have earned my first $100,000 and been in debts over more than I earned. I closed Big cases and lost even Bigger ones. I have been successful, threw it away, and started all over again. I have failed countless times, looked stupid in my pursuit of new things, but for those that worked they made it all worthwhile. Yet new things become old and so the pursuit goes on.

Through it all, I learnt that nothing is new except doing for achieving is futility and vanity. Nothing lasts. The Number One today is forgotten tomorrow. And all the failures too. At the end of the day, nobody remembers your awards and achievements other than your own pride and ego; a bottomless pit. People suck up to you because they are either afraid of you or there is something that they can leech out of you. In the end, people leave you one by one and all you are left with are painful scars. There is no appreciation, no thanks and no loyalty found in them. Blessed is he who finds true friends who stick thicker than a brother. As for me, I am contented to live the life of a loner just like the great Apostles. Maybe with my wife and a dog. Family.

In the end, I came to the conclusion that nothing is more important than Family and the God given Destiny. They fuelled my visions, dreams, passions, and enthusiasm to make a difference in this world. I learnt that the world keeps you busy doing all the above things and in the end achieve nothing. Oh how the mighty fall!

But what matters in this life is to live like a Dispenser of Enthusiasm, Love and Passion. They act as cooling gel over parched skin. Then you repaid God your debt and He puts a crown on your head and bestows a skepter of power to rule and reign. For we bring nothing in or out of this world but accumulate treasures in heaven. Money I earned in many ways. And the happiest of them all is when you give something away.

My conclusion in 7 words – “Fear God. Love Man. Do your Best”
